International Women's Day and "woman painter"

A painter. I want to be a painter, not a "woman painter" just as it is mentioned in this video. I am taking art history and the overall view is always that what the men have painted is worth noting but what the women have done is pretty much irrelevent. We don't say "woman doctor" or "woman astronaut" anymore but the presence of "woman painter" or "woman artist" still seems really alive still. Having the same presence and meaningful power in many fields as a "man" is still a struggle for many. And I say many because it is not just women. I view this struggle as against the imaginary ideal whose gender is male which can shift depending on fads, but still it is the "man". Many men feel they don't fit in with this imaginary entity either, it is just that all women are even further away from this imaginary entity.
